All it takes is a computer, an internet connection, and a passion for service!

No experience? No problem! We are seeking aspiring teachers in addition to professionals!

Knowledge of Spanish is not required, though it may be useful.

Applicants Must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • Have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Be interested in learning teaching and leadership skills

  • Be a fluent English speaker

  • Be proficient in the use of Zoom (click for relevant tutorials)

  • Be available to commit to the full session (there is an option to extend for more sessions)

  • Be available to teach 5 days a week during the Virtual English Academy’s hours of operation

  • Have access to a computer or laptop (a phone or tablet is not sufficient)

  • Have a strong and consistent WIFI connection (cellular data is not sufficient) and electricity

  • Have a quiet place from which to volunteer

  • You will gain invaluable teaching and leadership skills as well as experience in English as a Foreign Language. Volunteering with English Language Learners in a virtual environment will also help you grow your creativity, adaptability, communication skills, confidence, and comfort working virtually - an increasingly prevalent skillset.

  • English is a highly sought-after skill for our students and their communities. Opportunities to learn from native and near-native English speakers are few and far between, not to mention costly, so this is an unparalleled service you can offer. The time you spend with students will have an incredible impact on their education and inspire them to get excited about furthering their English learning. We can guarantee that taking time out of your week to serve our students will make a real difference.

  • No. You’ll be provided with an English curriculum to teach from and pre-created homework to publish for your students. Any additional preparations will take place within your hours unless you decide to dedicate extra time.

  • Yes, your first 2 weeks of service will be dedicated to training, so you'll have the knowledge necessary to teach Outreach360 Virtual English Academy students prior to your first class. After that, there will be a weekly leadership meeting on Mondays, and you'll be able to ask for support as needed.

  • You will typically have at least one partner. You'll work together to support the students and each other, but you should be comfortable on your own if need be as absences happen.

  • The Outreach360 Virtual English Academy is a rigorous program in which the students receive daily instruction. The goal of our application process is to get to know the personality and skills of our applicants in order to determine the best fit for our students and all parties involved.
