" A wonderful organization that is truly there to help the children in the orphanages it supports and the surrounding communities. They are their making small and big differences through moments, concrete, education, health, wellness and gestures of love while at the same time changing and effecting greatly the people they ask to come and help them with the cause."

Meet Pia Benet!

What made you choose to Volunteer with Outreach360?

I am a nursing student at Manchester community college in New Hampshire and they offered as an alternative spring break a trip with OO that was focused on medical clinics and health teaching in rural Dominican communities. I had always wanted to do something like that so I signed up.

What surprised you about your trip with Outreach360?

Just how much my experiences there have effected me, have made me grow and change as a person. How much I really loved being there and meeting the people every day. How dedicated the OO volunteers, interns and staff truly are to what they are doing. Just so impressive, all of it.

What where the highlights of your trip?

Copied from above....Being with such an incredible group of people that came together like a family in a day. Meeting our patients each day, learning about them and there lives, making that connection. Supporting people as best as we could with a hand on a shoulder, a hug, a smile or a hand not just with medicine. Experiencing the most amazing swings of emotions each day between focused work and effort, laughing and having fun, crying because out of sadness, joy and not knowing what else to do. Spending time with the people in the community, sharing smiles, seeing their life and there homes ( just a snap shot I know). Once again enjoying the sights and smells and sounds of the Dominican Republic.

What do you miss most about your volunteer experience?

Don't know where to start... The team connection that was so real, focused and intimate, being with our patients everyday. Maybe making a difference to someone in their day or maybe even their life. The countryside, food, culture, smiles and waves from people in the street.

Why should others choose to volunteer with Outreach360?

It's a fantastic organization that anyone can find their place in. It's focus is truly putting every penny and every moment into why it is there.
