"It was great working with the Outreach 360 crew. I loved that the culture and environment were so engrained into our minds. We felt like we belonged there and we're easily accepted. Outreach 360 did an excellent job showing that we are not their superior there to fix them but their equal, there to be what they need. I loved working in the Dominican an I would strongly recommend it. I myself want to go back and work go back and work there for an extended time. The experience is something not found in America. The people have such joy and are so happy where they are. The language barrier is something I was really nervous about, but communicating was much easier then I expected, even with my limited Spanish background. It was more difficult to talk to people my own age or older but even then, they understood and tried to work with me. The place and people are unforgettable and life changing. It is definitely worth the time an money needed."
Kelsey Hilt, Cascade Christian High School, 2012
"Do it, it will change your life. I definitely want to go again when I can afford it, and am seriously considering becoming a long-term volunteer because I loved it so much. Even if you can not speak Spanish, it does not matter and is not necessary like you would think it would be. This is a great program that is really doing good."
Joy Skipper, 2012
"Highlights included watching the high school students interact with the children. Meeting the other groups who came to volunteer. Watching the children enjoy themselves so much. Learning from the Dominican culture. It is an incredible experience. It is well worth the time and money investment. I do not speak Spanish, and I still had a great experience."
Matthew Jones, 2012

It has been a life changing experience that was absolutely incredible and more fulfilling than I could have ever predicted. Everyone there is so full of love and you really feel emerged in the culture and community. It was the most amazing experience of my whole life and I definitely recommend you venture out to the Dominican, the most beautiful place on earth, to see for yourself."

"This experience gave me the opportunity to use my head, hands and heart to communicate with the people of the Dominican Republic. Anyone who would like the opportunity to help foster growth in children, the future of our world, would benefit from volunteering and serving others to build a stronger future in Monte Cristi. I am excited to see how Outreach 360 continues to expand and I hope to have more opportunities to collaborate in the future! Thank you for a wonderful week!"

Paige Homberg, Maryvale Preparatory School, 2012
"My time with Outreach360 was truly incredible. I absolutely loved working with the kids, and receiving love from them as well as giving. I really appreciated Outreach360's emphasis on allowing their volunteers to become a part of the community. I have been on other mission trips where I felt eerily secluded from the community. With Outreach360 we were able to travel throughout the city and really get to know the people of Monte Cristi. I really could tell the passion the staff had. I loved speaking Spanish with the children, and because of this trip I have decided to pursue a minor in Spanish in college. I would definitely recommend Outreach360 to someone who has never been on a missions trip before. I think it is a great first trip, giving you the opportunity to serve, experience a new culture, and receive love from those you are working with. It is not too overwhelming and a great trip for someone who has never been out of the country."
Kelsey McDonald, Maryvale Preparatory School, 2012
"Highlights included watching our students work with the children during the camps. In addition the times we were able to walk through the town and experience spontaneous interaction with Dominican folks. Experiencing the culture and embracing the moments to learn from my students and the people we spent our time with there. Outreach 360 offers a comprehensive approach to a service learning experience which not only includes opportunities for direct outreach, cultural education and time for recreation. Our girls fully embraced the experience and enjoyed every minute of it."
Michael Vogrin, Maryvale Preparatory School, 2012
"You should absolutely join Outreach360 because the three weeks I have spent with Outreach360 have been extremely influential in other areas of my life, and I do not regret a second of it. No week is ever perfect, but every week presents new challenges and I have grown from all of them. "
Danielle Melgar, 2012
"I would highly recommend this program for groups of all kinds. I think it is especially great for families, because it is so well organized and coordinated. There is a great balance of activities, work, cultural education, and rest time. The interactions between our children and the young adult volunteers in Nicaragua were fabulous, and added a tremendous amount to the experience."
Fran Melgar, 2012

Katherine Isleb, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, 2012
"Outreach360 provided a wonderful environment and staff that encouraged all of us to see past our egocentric ways and focus on the children. For me, the children were the best part. Seeing them all come to the camps actually wanting to learn and having fun while doing it was so incredibly rewarding. Before I had questioned myself as to what impact I could actually make in a week. As it turns out, I am a link in the chain that will provide a better future of these kids and I did make a difference!"
Nicole Fuls, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, 2012
"I loved it. You learn so much about the world and yourself."
Robert Olson, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, 2012
"I liked the way we were able to go out into the communities to help the kids and get a feel for what the country is really like by walking through the neighborhoods afterwards and having so much contact with the people there. It is definitely worth your time. Not only is it a personally rewarding activity, but you can really feel the impact you are making in the community. It was a once in a lifetime experience that I left, with new perspectives on many things in life."
Katie Sequin, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, 2012
"I loved watching the children take the book I was reading and finish reading it to his or her friends. At first some where shy to read, but then as they got more comfortable everyone took turns and the more proficient readers helped the others instead of letting me help them. It was amazing to see them take charge of their learning."
Bat-Zion Hose, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, 2012
"Go for it! I definitely recommend joining Outreach360. My experience was amazing! Everyone on the staff was so nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. They provided information for us about the country and people, clean t-shirts every day, and great food! And best of all its obvious they care about their work, I loved seeing Brian and Mario hanging out with the kids and forming relationships with them. They provided awesome activities for us on our culture day: at the beach, gift shop, tour around Monte Cristi, a grocery store, and getting ice cream! It was so much fun, a really great learning experience, and I will always value the time I spent there and memories I made!"

"The biggest highlight for me was how thought-provoking the trip was. I felt that I learned a lot about myself and the world, and I came back having a lot more questions than answers. I really liked our trip leaders, Mario and Brian, and I thought the staff on site in Jaibon was wonderful."
Ashley Trewartha, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, 2012

You get mosquito nets to sleep in at night and good yummy meals."

Also I made a lot of good friends that I will be able to stay connected with in the States with which I can discuss my experience and my new outlooks on global cultures."
Greta Huff, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, 2012

Peter Fellows, 2012
" The trip was monumental for me and I learned so much about life and what it means to be happy even when you can not have everything you want. I set up a meeting with the school board of my school so that I could give a presentation on my trip in hopes that I could lead a trip of 15 or so kids back to Monte Cristi next year. It was an amazing experience and I learned a lot in just one week."
Austin Fellows, 2012

The leaders were awesome.. friendly and helpful at all times. I felt proud to represent such an organized organization. It was an incredible experience."

Going to the coffee shops, and Selva Negra (and seeing ALL those howler monkeys, as well as a toucan), were also top on my list! "

I also enjoyed the exploration experience that we had on Thursday and Friday. It is a great program and I highly recommend joining. They do a great job of using the 10 principles to help serve the community, but they allow give opportunities for the volunteers to learn about the culture and history through different activities. It is a fantastic program and I would definitely look to Outreach 360 in the future if I am considering an abroad service experience."

GO!! Outreach 360, Nicaragua is a wonderful experience that provides fantastic leadership building and cultural immersion opportunities. Jamie Gordon, 2012
"I enjoyed the freedom we were given in regards to planning and carrying out classroom lessons and activities. The responsibility made me take the role as teacher very seriously. The best part of my experience was my interaction with the kids during the school hours. Teaching them was fulfilling because I felt as if I was really making an impact. I also liked the free time we were given towards the latter end of the trip to roam the city on our own. It let me get a great feel of Jinotega without feeling like a tourist walking around in a group of 25 people taking pictures. I would say that participating in an Outreach360 program is a great way to serve others while learning about another country's culture. They are a well known program with solidified goals which show their commitment to serving others. They will show you a good time and make your trip worthwhile."
Cameron Bennett, 2012
"As a past participant, the one of the highlights was being able to see the direction in which the organization is going. I enjoyed teaching in the neighborhood center, and I was glad to be a part of the English immersion approach, rather than using a lot of Spanish to teach English. I truly believe that the kids are learning more with this setup. Outreach360 is a great organization! When you serve with them, you become part of the O360 family. You are Outreach 360!"
Angela Major, 2012

I also really enjoyed seeing them so enthusiastic about reading and participating in class activities. If someone was interested in joining Outreach 360 I would definitely encourage them to do so. Being a part of the Outreach 360 organization for just a week was one of my most enjoyable experiences I have had so far. Seeing the growth and desire for knowledge the children in the community had for learning and getting to observe the culture of the people of Jinotega is something to take part in."

"Everything about this trip was incredible. Something I really cherished was having the independence to explore the town of Monte Cristi as I pleased and to discover things for myself. If I wanted to walk to the beach, go to the local market, or go meet up with some kids at the park, it was all right there. I also really liked getting to be with the Dominican kids outside of the classrooms, when we would have super casual dance parties and games of catch in the late hours at the park. The whole time, I felt very accepted, safe, and relaxed. Nothing about this trip was stressful at all."
Adam DiPaola, Oregon Episcopal School, 2012
"It is a great experience, jump right in."

Hayley Jones, Oregon Episcopal School, 2012
"As a teacher, I would say that this is the most valuable trip I have taken with high school students. They had to engage immediately, get outside of themselves, and work really hard. The results of their hard work teaching kids were quickly evident and it propelled them to work even harder for the next class. Our students are forever changed by this experience. Outreach 360 is a model for sustainable development at its best."
Maria McIvor, Oregon Episcopal School, 2012

I think what made my experience truly fantastic was that I felt safe but not constricted by the organization. There was structure to my experience but I was still able to really connect with the locals and spend a lot of time with them. Outreach360 was a life changing experience and I would not trade it for anything in the world."
Alice Halter, Sandia Preparatory School, 2012
"I enjoyed being submerged within the culture as well as working with the students and teachers at JFK. The group leaders are wonderful and the experience was definitely worth while and truly unique."

Lauren Nickerson, University of New England, 2012
"ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY GO!!!!!! It was the most amazing experience I could have ever asked for it went above and beyond what I had expected it to be. It is so great that it is hard to describe in words how influential, perfect, meaningful, just absolutely amazing this experience was. YOU SHOULD DO GO!!!!!!!"
Kristen Morris, University of New England, 2012
"I loved absolutely everything about the trip. I loved being able to work with the students as well as being able to play with them in the park. I made some connections that are definitely going to last a long time, and I have Outreach360 to thank for that. As soon as I got into Monte Cristi, I felt like I was home and that I belonged there. Outreach has established such a positive reputation, that I felt extremely safe. It was an experience of a lifetime and I am already looking into when I can come back!"
Nicholas Durand, University of New England, 2012
"I thought the organization was incredibly organized, ethical in its community outreach and goals for self-sustainability, and well-run. The staff leaders were terrific and I thought the program structure was done really well to provide volunteers with the best experience possible and to interact with the community and learn more about the history and culture. We loved playing with the kids, working in the institute and our Culture Day. I have already recommended it to several people. I hope to return and bring my own kids and have also mentioned it to family friends/neighbors. I think it is a terrific eye-opening experience and a wonderful and safe introduction to experiencing life in a developing country."
Donna Gaspar-Jarvis, University of New England, 2012
"All of the staff were incredible, the children were wonderful, and the food was delicious. I could not have asked for a better experience. The structure is impeccable and the culture talks were so interesting. Definitely a necessity! I felt so incredibly safe in Monte Cristi and that was one of my biggest fears. The children are wonderful and they end up teaching you as much as you teach them. A worth-while and life changing experience! I would recommend it to anyone."
Jane Starke, University of New England, 2012
"The highlights of my trip were definitely the community and the children in the classroom. I loved how open and friendly the community was and how welcoming there were to all of us. I also loved working with the students in the classroom and seeing their drive and want to learn. The look on their face when they understood was priceless and so rewarding. Don't think twice about volunteering. It is such a rewarding experience for both you and the children and is so worth it."
Samantha Cash, University of New England, 2012
"Highlights with Outreach360 include the moment when you connect with the children. When you realize that even though the Dominican Republic is a developing country, both hope and happiness exists. That the future does not have to seem grim, with the little time that I put into this country a lot has been accomplished . I await the day when the children I worked with grow older and our paths cross so that we will practice medicine along side one another."
Amanda Braithwaite, University of New England, 2012
"I would say that it is an experience unlike any other. When my group and I first got off our plane in Santiago, a man walked up to us and asked us about the shirts we were wearing (the Outreach logo). When we told him why we were there, he could not stop thanking us for coming to his country and really wanted us to know that the Dominican Republic is unlike any other country in the Caribbean. He was so proud of his heritage and his people, and it became apparent very quickly to our group that he was right; the Dominican people, culture, and opportunities are so unique. This is such a generous culture and it shows within every aspect of the Outreach360 program."
Rachel Harris, University of New England, 2012
"Working with the children was a blast and I loved meeting with the other volunteer groups! Everyone in the program , as well as in the community was welcoming and appreciative. Go for it! You will not be disappointed. I always felt safe and supported and always had a great time!"
Danielle Jones, Kansas State University, 2012
"Travelling to Jinotega, Nicaragua to join forces with Outreach360 was an unforgettable experience. This trip had such a wonderful balance of learning about the culture and immersing oneself in its people, tastes and service to the community. It was a blessing to teach the adorable chavalos (kids) English. The joy on their faces when they understood a concept was heartwarming. This trip will forever hold a place in my heart!!"
Carrie Remillard, Kansas State University, 2012
"Highlights included getting to see the town Jinotega and experience the culture and coffee farm. Outreach 360 is organized and makes you feel at home while you are maybe a thousand miles away. They make you feel like your family and help you through the process of being in another country. Their number one goal is service and they carry that goal through and through."
Seth Ellis II, Kansas State University, 2012
"It is hard, but so fulfilling! I think no matter what mind set you go into it though, Outreach360 does a great job of teaching you how important it is to follow those principles that are introduced at orientation. Go for it!"
Nikita Jathan, Virginia Commonwealth University, 2012
"Outreach 360 provided me with an incredible and unforgettable experience. From learning the culture of the Dominican Republic to serving the community, I enjoyed every aspect. I would highly recommend! Not only was it a hands on experience where you are truly serving the community, Outreach 360 helps one understand their mission and goal as an organization and shows great appreciation for their volunteers from even the little things such as making sure their are clean bed sheets washed, etc."
Stephanie Simpson, Virginia Commonwealth University, 2012
"Absolutely! It is an eye-opening and life changing experience that I would recommend to anyone. I have never had a week of my life impact me as much as this one did. Kudos to Outreach 360 for such a great program and goal!"
Anish Desai, Virginia Commonwealth University, 2012
"I just recommended Outreach to like 10 people and I only got back to the States yesterday afternoon. I said something along these lines: DO IT! It was an amazing life-changing experience. Teaching English to one 6th grade class and three 7th grade classes, learning about the strong Afro-Latino culture, getting a chance to try authentic Dominican food, exploring breathe-taking markets (Dajabon), and having an adventurous hike up El Morro and Playa de El Morro were just some of the highlights. Learning the most important thing is to not help, but SERVE these people in this 3rd world nation."
Jagmeet Warraich, Virginia Commonwealth University, 2012
"During my week experiencing life in the Dominican Republic for the first time with Outreach 360, I have had numerous highlights - some of which I can't even describe to friends because they simply don't understand how great of an Alternative Spring Break trip I had. One was definitely lesson planning for a crazy week of teaching English verbs at Escuela Rosa Smester. The first day was tough, although each day seemed to become more and more second nature as the students were beginning to calm down and befriend us. Teaching in general was an eye-opening experience, especially because of the cultural barrier. Outreach 360's principles are ones I am starting to use in my daily life, after hearing what exactly they mean and how they can be applied in any aspect. Other than serving, the culture day was my favorite in my three years of going on an Alternative Spring Break trip. Having the opportunity to watch two movies about the relationship with the Dominican Republic and Haiti and then seeing it first-hand at the Dajabon Market was truly a remarkable experience. The whole trip overall, I would say, has been the highlight of my life so far, and I can't wait to come back as a Long-Term Volunteer later this year. I miss everything about Outreach 360 already and I've only been home for 4 days! I loved everything about the whole experience and am thrilled that I was able to lead such an impactful and memorable trip for my participants at VCU."
Christina Edwards, Virginia Commonwealth University, 2012

Yasmin Venema, Carnegie Mellon University, 2012
"The perfect program schedule. There was enough time to do everything I wanted to do there: teach the kids, go to the beach, explore the town, breaks in between teaching. Best trip I have ever been to. A complete service experience that tops all other holiday trips I've gone to. Highly highly highly recommended to go."
Siyun Luo, Carnegie Mellon University, 2012
"[Outreach360] is an experience that changes your views and perspectives on a lot of issues, socially, culturally and psychologically. I began the experience with the mindset that I was going to be giving the kids but in the end, they taught me more than I could ever teach them."
ADETUNJI OLOJEDE, Carnegie Mellon University, 2012
"Highlights included learning about the Dominican culture, visit to Dajabon, interacting with the children (and learning from them), walking around town and saying Buen Dia to everyone, Rompasa flavored helados, home cooked Dominican meals, playing tag in recess, and siestas. I had a truly great time. It was one of the best weeks of my life- an overall amazing experience. It was not only rewarding, but also a great learning experience and gave me a lot to think about. I am thinking of returning next year."
Haylie Kim, Carnegie Mellon University, 2012

Anna Park, Carnegie Mellon University, 2012
"Just do it! It is truly an experience of a lifetime and it will reshape how you frame the world and your role within it. Outreach 360 is a phenomenal non-profit that seeks to educate you about the community you serve, so that you walk away not only remembering the service you provided but are also able to articulate your own sense of understanding about the culture you grew to know and the privileges you own as a individual."
Angela Lusk, Carnegie Mellon University, 2012

"I loved being able to immerse myself in Dominican culture, speaking Spanish with the children at the orphanage and Pueblo Nuevo, and seeing the ocean for the first time with my OO group. I would say that joining Outreach360 for me was a fulfilling and rewarding choice. My opinion is that everyone should spend some time with an organization like Outreach360 in order to understand a little bit more about how the world works and how to be a positive part of it."
