Promoting Environmental Awareness
Our vision for each of the children we are serving is to become an active citizen, committed to serving those less fortunate, and be an active friend of the environment. Each Outreach360 facility will promote caring for the environment, being sustainable in the areas or power, water, and food production.Rain Water Collection:
In many disadvantaged communities there is inconsistent access to safe drinking water. Collecting rain water is not only a safe and less expensive source of drinking water, but is also a great resource for families to use to irrigate home and or community gardens.
Agriculture/Food Production:
Community gardens are a great way to bring families together to produce food sources for economically disadvantaged communities. Vertical and square-foot gardens are great ways to give families a sustainable source of good in areas where large spaces are not available.
Wind/Solar Energy Collection:
Electricity is very expensive in many of the disadvantaged communities where we are working. However, there is an abundance of wind and solar energy that can be harnessed to help lower these costs, as well as protect the environment.
Environmental Education:
We believe that making a sustainable difference in a community begins with education. We can spend a lot of time picking up trash in a community, but unless you education people on the importance of keeping the environment clean and the impact that litter has on the world, the problem will not go away. This is why throughout each grade in our community centers, we will integrate environmental education through cross-curricular integration. Students will learn about the the environment while building skills for their future!
